Jesus sits in the home of Mary and Martha, teaching with gentle authority while Mary rests at His feet and listens. Beside them, Martha is shown busy with household service, preparing food and attending to the work of hospitality. At the doorway, she welcomes the Lord into her home, framing the lesson within the warmth of a New Testament household.

The artwork portrays the account from Luke 10:38-42, where Martha is burdened by much serving and Mary gives her full attention to Christ’s words.
