A laden table, goblet, pitcher, fruit, and vessels frame the moment, while children stand beside the patriarch, showing that this act of obedience reaches across generations. The scene reflects Jeremiah 35, where the Rechabites decline wine because their ancestor commanded them to live in discipline and abstinence. Their refusal becomes a prophetic lesson to Judah: if one household can honor the word of an earthly father, how much more should God’s people heed the word of the Lord.
