Gideon carries a heavy stone toward a newly built altar of stacked blocks, set in an open countryside with hills and a distant village beyond him. The scene presents the judge of Israel in the quiet labor of obedience, preparing a place of worship to the Lord rather than the idols of his father’s house. In Judges 6, Gideon is called out of fear and hiddenness into covenant faithfulness; before he leads Israel, he must first tear down false worship and build an altar to the true God. The rising stone structure becomes a sign of repentance, consecration, and restored devotion, making this artwork especially fitting for teaching on obedience, spiritual renewal, and the call of God.
